The Riso CZ100: An example of sustainable practices in materials production PDF Print E-mail

Image “The Vision: An inter-dependant, reliable inexpensive to run network of community based resource material production facilities across Africa using renewable energy, computers connected through internet, and all powered by renewable solar energy”

“In September 2008 the Riso Printing Company agreed to sponsor Share-Net with a printing machine that had a low carbon footprint. The Riso CZ100 printing machine uses very little electricity because it uses wet ink, derived from soya, and does not have to back the ink onto paper using high levels of heat as is the case with photo-copiers. Once the printer was installed at Share-Net we connected it to a solar panel and the power used was renewable.”
